Depending on the DAW and OS the button layout will differ.Īnother cool thing is that if you don't already own a control surface you can use the Maschine controller as a full MCU while mixing, recording automation, etc. Then add a mackie control surface in your DAW's preferences with maschine as the midi device. You just choose the mackie control template in maschine's controller editor and check host transport control. I would like to use it as a plug in and cubase without having to using the Cubase transport to start and s a workflow killer. Not unless Im doing somehting wrongyeah you're doing something wrong. I use it in standalone and then export individual sounds in Cubase. I still havent sat down with an Ableton Push though.which is basically the same concept in a different form. I havent found anything that beats Maschine for quick and easy production.
Having "50% quantize" at my fingertips alone was a godsend. Why would anyone abandon their beloved DAW and write/sequence/sketch in another environment? Because Maschine is at least 3-5x faster at finding the right sounds and getting ideas out. It really works best if you just use your DAW for vocals, final arrangment, and mixing. Its pretty much an elevation and refinement of the whole MPC centerpiece concept. After using it extensively Maschine really won me over. I already had a trigger finger, padkontrol, launchpad, plus owned and sold multiple MPCs. The only thing Maschine lacks is a linear arrangement mode, which if you've never used hardware might seem odd, but other than that as a sequencer its near perfect. Being able to seamlessly move between these functions without stopping the sequence or even looking up is way quicker and more inspiring than using a mouse. It's not my scene or bag.Do you have a dedicated controller for your DAW? Are you sequencing stuff live or just clicking on a grid? Nothing beats having real buttons for record, erase, quantize, duplicate pattern size, nudge, copy, paste, etc.plus instant access to a step sequencer. I do you might not, I found Maschine DAW redundant and a workflow killer sold it within the first month I owned it.
